          Dear Parents/Carers,

You will by now have had some time to digest the Prime Minister’s statement on Sunday night. I thought it would be helpful to spell out the implications of this announcement and how it is likely to impact upon education and specifically us at Willowfield.

The Prime Minister announced that some Primary students will return to school from June 1st. Whilst this will not directly impact upon Willowfield, I am aware that many of you have younger children in our local primary Schools who will I am sure share their plans with you over the coming days and weeks.

The picture for us at Willowfield as a Secondary school is not yet quite as clear. Year 10 students will be our first year group to return to school, probably in late June or perhaps even early July. There has been no mention at this stage about when students in Years 7, 8 and 9 will return. I am sad to say that it is therefore likely that these younger students may not be returning to school until September.

I am so sorry that we are still not yet able to welcome every student back to school, but the pending return of even some of our students is at least a positive sign that we are beginning to see the beginning of the end of this crisis. All of us share some trepidation about returning that tempers our optimism and hope. Please rest assured that whilst eager to see all of our students back at school, any return will be carefully planned and risk assessed - informed by best practice elsewhere and the most up to date guidance from the world of Science and Public Health England. I will update you with further details as soon as I can.

I am conscious about how difficult this extended break from school has been for so many of you. As a School we will continue to work hard to support you in any way we can. Please do not hesitate to make contact if there is anything, we might be able to help you with or if you have any concerns about on-line learning or anything else.
Thank you as ever for your incredible support during this crisis.

          Stay safe
          Yours sincerely
          Clive Rosewell
